Three Gun
Three Gun shooting events are practical shooting events where the stages are shot with a combination of three types of firearms. Matches generally involve courses where the shooter must move through different stages, and engage targets in a variety of different positions. Each stage will generally require the use of different weapons and require the shooter to transition between different firearms. |

Scoring is kept by timing each competitor on each course. Each target you miss (or fail to hit in a vital area) and each "no shoot" target that you accidentally shoot will result in a time penalty. Effectively, the goal is to shoot the course with perfect accuracy as quickly as possible.
Our Three Gun shoots are put on by the Pennsylvania Class III Competitors organization. Shooters may participate at a cost of $25 per class entered. The following classes are currently available:
Cowboy Action shooters are welcome to shoot and may opt to use a shotgun or pistol caliber carbine for some stages. To shoot in the cowboy class you will need a rifle, pistol caliber carbine, shotgun and two revolvers. Cowboys rifles must be capable of engaging targets out to 200 yards. Cowboy rifles may be lever action or pre-1920 bolt action rifles. (IE 1898 Mauser, 1903 Springfield, 1917 Enfield, etc.)
Smooth sole riding boots are NOT allowed. Footwear must have aggressive tread with sturdy ankle support.
Cowboys will have a modified scoring system with reduced round counts.
All shooters will have to have to perform reloads on the move therefore everyone needs secure pouches to carry spare magazines, stripper clips, en-bloc clips, speedloaders, shotshells, or individual rounds. A minimum of three ammunition feeding devices are required per system.
Slings are not required for long guns.
Pistol holsters must be secure enough to allow shooters to run at full speed.
Armor piercing, steel/tungsten core, and steel jacketed ammo is NOT permitted. Shotshells may be bird or buckshot and 1 1/8oz game loads are recommended. Reliable, quality, full-power jacketed ammo is required for pistol and rifle. Cowboys may use all lead.
